Alberto G. Rodriguez
Bio:
Alberto G. Rodriguez began his career while enrolled at San Francisco State University. He wrote, produced, and began directing, his Indie Feature Film, Criminal Xing, finishing it shortly after graduation. He and his producing partner, Manny M. Hernandez, would go on to sell the Distribution rights to ITN and Maverick Entertainment. The film was re-released in Walmart & Amazon Prime under the title, Mexican Mob War. Rodriguez followed up with several short films, including The Good, The Bad & The Dead. He would go on to option the Feature length script for The Good, The Bad & The Dead, using the short film as a proof of concept. A few months later, Rodriguez was signed to write the thriller, Dark Power, starring Kristanna Loken, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Chris Carmack. In 2015 Rodriguez wrote & directed the supernatural mystery, The Summoning, starring Eric Roberts, Leila Almas, Jaime Zevallos, and Razaaq Adoti. The film was distributed by Gravitas Ventures and was released on HULU in 2017. During this time, Rodriguez was brought in to do a rewrite with co-writer, Matt Medrano on the horror feature film, The Tide. The film was optioned by Shaun Redick (EP – Get Out & Producer – Blackkklansman) and Yvette Yates (Producer – Day Shift) at Impossible Dream Entertainment. The Tide is currently in development. In 2019, marketing executives at FX were looking for short-format, story-based scripts that would tell a narrative leading up to theAmerican Horror Story 1984 season premiere. Rodriguez wrote 25 different shorts, getting 10 of those produced for FX, with one of them playing before IT Chapter 2 in movie theaters. Rodriguez was in the midst of directing his next feature film, Where The Dead Go (Under the CINEMIXTA Label), when the pandemic hit. With only 4 more production days needed, Rodriguez re-wrote the third act in order to film those scenes safely during the pandemic with Producer and Lead Actor, Adam P. Cray. Where The Dead Go would soon land child-hood hero Carlos Gallardo (El Mariachi, Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico), as EP and as both the character of Ray and the film’s narrator.
