Julie Joohee Jeon is a first-time director and a film composer who has worked on renowned films based in South Korea. She’s also a singer-songwriter and music director. Growing up in Vancouver, Canada as a Korean-Canadian, Julie has always been passionate about storytelling through the power of music and film. Julie earned a Bachelor of Music in Integrated Studies of Voice Performance and Music Education from the University of Calgary in 2013, where she also gained a certificate in conducting from Capilano University in Vancouver, Canada in 2011. She then pursued her Master of Music in Scoring for Film and Multimedia at New York University, which she completed in 2016. Throughout her career, Julie has created music for film, multimedia, and musical theatre, and has worked with a wide range of talented artists across various industries. Her ability to create evocative and captivating music has made her a sought-after composer and music director in the entertainment industry. In addition to her work in music, Julie has written her film scripts, fuelled by her desire to tell stories through the medium of film. 'Happen to Happen' (2023) marks Julie’s directorial debut, and she is excited to bring her vision to life and take on new challenges. Julie's love for music and film has led her on a journey filled with creative expression and the pursuit of her dreams.
