Bio:

JJ Melendez, a renaissance figure originating from the culturally complex borderlands of South Texas, has devoted his life to navigating and sculpting the future. His work represents an eloquent convergence of his profound Chicano heritage and the avant-garde of technological advancement, fostering a unique interdisciplinary dialogue.

Luis Treviño, born and raised in the diverse landscapes of South Texas, weaves his profound fascination with nature into his pursuit of mastering the art and science of film. Drawing inspiration from the Gulf coastlines to the cacti-studded plains of his childhood, Treviño deftly combines his deep appreciation of the natural world with advanced cinematic techniques, creating captivating narratives that are as visually stunning as they are emotionally resonant

Statement:

We hiked and camped for three days under the vast West Texas sky to gather the dreams of the mountain and the whispers of the Rio Grande. We etch our story in the vibrant hues of a border sunset, melding surrealism and borderland magic to weave a tapestry where contrasts evaporate into the heat haze. In this video, we summon Sabado Gigante’s Chacal from our childhood to steal away the technological demons and false dualities that plague our modern day.
