Brahmakanya (The colour of hope)

Synopsis: The Film Brahmakanya - The colour of hope is the life story of a poor, homeless girl child. The 14-year-old Durga is brought to Guwahati city by a related aunt for work and studies, but soon enough, Durga gets to know that she was in fact brought with the intention of selling her off. Fleeing from her aunt’s clutches. Durga goes on to live with some homeless people on the footpaths. She befriends some homeless children, picking through garbage dumps and waste to eke out of living. 


Dhiraj Kashyap

Bio:

Born and brought up in Assam, India, Dhiraj Kashyap is a Master of Arts from Gauhati University. He has made his directorial debut with the feature film 'Mohamukti' in 1998. The film received awards for Best Film and Best Direction at the State Film Awards. He has directed three other films, 'Dhan Kuberor Dhan', 'Lokabandhoo' and 'Brahmakanya'. 'Lokabandhoo' was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival and the Regina International Film Festival in 2015. Brahmakanva (2023) was screened Indian Film Festival of Melborn, Child rights Film Festival of Turkey and ten other International Film Festivals. Brahmakanya have own best Director, best Children Film in KAshif International Film Festival and also own best Film in North-East India International Film Festival in 2023. He has made a numbers of documentaries and short films. He has also produced a numbers of television serials and programmes for Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati.
