Border Cowboys tells the stories of players and coaches as they strive to make it to the state championship game while they also confront off-the-field challenges and aspirations that will define the students' prospects after high school.

Bio:

Jose Sanchez is an EMMY winning journalist and documentary filmmaker. He's been involved in storytelling for over thirteen years. He's based in the Rio Grande Valley for KENS-TV covering the border.

Statement:

Border Cowboys is a project born out of the need to tell more personal stories from the Rio Grande Valley other than what you usually see on television and cable news. I wanted to show the world that people across the South Texas are fighters and stop at nothing to overcome their obstacles. The students and coaches from the Gladys Porter High School soccer program are the perfect example of that passion to succeed that characterizes us in the Rio Grande Valley.
