Bio:

Ever since I can remember, I have enjoyed telling stories. From broadcasting sporting events as a Student at Rutgers University to Acting in Film & on the Stage in New York, story has always been paramount. The transition to Screenwriting & Directing has been my latest and most fulfilling endeavor. Over the past several years through my production company – Leroy Street Productions, I have tried to tell stories filled with comedy, heart, and most importantly – truth & honesty. My short film, “Three Minutes to Go” was featured in two NYC festivals in 2020: (Chelsea Film Festival, Astoria Film Festival). In 2021, my web series “Schemers” won the Princeton Tiger award at the Nassau Film Festival. My latest short film, “Luke & Ira” was shown to a live audience at the 2021 New York Shorts International Film Festival in Greenwich Village. My upcoming feature debut, Accidental Expat, tells the often forgotten story about what happens when a DREAMer from the USA must start a new and challenging life in Mexico. Its cast includes Edgar De Santiago (USA Network) and Enrique Arreola (Mexico Ariel Awards, Best Actor winner). It recently made its debut at the Arizona International Film Festival.

Statement:

Living as an Expat in Mexico City in early 2020, I had read stories locally about the fate of American DREAMers deported back to Mexico. Many came as babies and couldn’t even speak Spanish, their mother tongue. In fact, over 800,000 DREAMers live in the USA with uncertain futures and more than 100,000 Mexicans are deported from the USA each year. I soon began to realize that while many films cover ICE raids, horrible conditions in detention, and other issues of pending deportations in the USA; Once the individual was sent to Mexico their story ended. But why should it? In fact-that’s where the real story begins. Starting over, perseverance, figuring out your identity, these are a huge part of the human condition and amplified even greater in cases of the deportation of a DREAMer.
